On Friday 17th May, ten members of the bat group made the trip to Carsington Water for the next scheduled trapping survey as part of the Nathusius' Project.
A repeat of last years survey saw a team located around the visitor center and angling center with a second team based to the south at Milfield car park.
The conditions were perfect however bat activity didn't start until a good forty minutes after sun set. When the bats did arrive the detectors were busy with the recognisable sound of pipistrelles. Thirty six bats were caught in total with twenty four being common pipistrelle which is surprising as such a large water body. No Nathusius' were caught again, begging the question, where are they ?
