On Friday 28th June 2019 we kicked off the National Trust's BioBlitz at Hardwick Hall by running a bat walk for participants and volunteers. 40 people joined us for the walk around the ponds at the western end of the Estate including a large number of young National Trust ranger volunteers who were camping at the site for the weekend. Five bat species were recorded: common and soprano pipistrelle, Myotis species, noctule and Daubenton's, the latter two species we had fantastic views of foraging over the Great Pond. The current total number of species recorded over the weekend is 336.
